I thought it would be a nice idea to share some of the things I do to keep feeling and looking fresh when travelling. When travelling, I want to get up and get ready as soon as possible to make the most of my day. There are a few things I do in advance and use to look fresh for the day ahead.
1. Eyebrow Tint
I have the most pathetic eyebrows ever; they’re sparse and very light coloured resulting in me looking like death. To solve this issue, I dye my eyebrows every 2 weeks which saves time in my mornings. Before I used to spend what felt like forever filling in my non-existent brows with a pencil. I use the ‘Eyebrow Tint Cream Colour Henna’ by Delia in ‘Dark Brown’ which is travel size and has Argan Oil too!
2. CC Cream
I have a friend who works for Sephora who gave me a sample of a redness cream and thank God she did. I’m not massively into make-up so I didn’t know exactly what to expect, but my ‘Erborian CC Red Correct Redness Corrector Illuminator' is amazing. I get quite red skin, but this corrects the redness with the green pigments. It's like makeup but doesn’t look like make-up which I like. This also comes in a travel format and is easy to apply.
3. Epilator
Epilation is something I recommend as it saves the time you normally have to awkwardly spend shaving in the shower. I always do this just before I go on my vacations. It takes a while to do, but you get the results in minutes and smooth skin for about 3 weeks in my case. Obviously, at first, the 40 tweezers are a tad painful, but it's worth it. I use the Braun SE 5280 Silk Epil 5 Epilator which I’ve had for years, but it still works a treat!
4. Face Mask
I am obsessed with face masks and probably use them too often, but I just love how refreshed and hydrated you feel after using one. I like to have one big one I can use for a long time; I’m currently using the Vegan and Organic Moisturising Facial Mask by Revuele. It's vegan with oat oil, chia oil and Quinoa extract which is all great for the skin. Not to mention, this is also super affordable and a travel-friendly 100ml size.
5. Toner
Now I am living in Madrid, I pass a lot of pollution hot spots so my skin doesn’t exactly feel fresh all the time. I think toning my skin each day helps clean away the crap you’ve accumulated on your face after a long day. I’ve started using ‘Dr. Scheller Anti Pollution Face Toner’ which guards your skin against the effects of environmental influences. Its is vegan, alcohol-free and leaves my skin feeling so much cleaner.
6. Menstrual Cup
Okay so this maybe doesn’t suit everyone but this is a life changer for me. I was quite reluctant at trying a menstrual cup at first because I thought it could be a mess. I’ve also not worn tampons before with the fear of toxic shock syndrome, (yes I’m crazy ) so this was pretty daunting. I gave it a try anyway and its amazing and easy to always have in your travel bag. Its also vegan, and it lasts years and not hours which means saving money and the environment! Ta ta period towels.
7. Hair Mask
There’s nothing worse than dry, skanky hair, one because it feels awful and to because it looks awful in travel photos. I recommend using a hair mask before you set off on your weekend trips. I’m liking the ‘Garnier Ultimate Blends Hair Food Papaya 3-in-1 Damaged Hair Mask Treatment’. Its vegan, 96% biodegradable and has 98% Natural Origin ingredients. My hair smells and looks fabulous after using this, I can't recommend it enough. Adios to split ends.
8. Moisturiser
I have atopic eczema and get really dry skin so I do have to use some sort of moisturiser twice a day to not look like a walking crusty mess. At the moment I’m loving the ‘Bielenda Vegan-Friendly Shea Body Butter Shea Butter’. It has anti-inflammatory properties which are great for keeping my eczema under control. The Vitamin E in this one is good for my dry skin and just improves its appearance.
9. Tea Tree
I swear by tea tree oil for spots and blemishes. Tea tree is a natural antiseptic and antibacterial. I’m using serum from ASDA in the UK and its tea tree oil with salicylic acid which helps reduce blemishes and spots. I use mine every day and its 30g so also travel friendly. My skin genuinely looks so much clearer thanks to this. Thursday Plantation Teatree Blemish Gel - Tea Tree 25g is good dupe similar to mine which you can buy here in Spain.
10. Sunscreen
This should be a no brainer when going out and enjoying the sun. You need to block the harmful rays in style. I like to use the SPF 30 Clear Lavender Sunscreen Cream by Badger because of its sweat and water-resistant for 40 minutes and naturally scented with organic Bulgarian Lavender which as you can imagine smells divine. Its made with organic sunflower oil, beeswax and Vitamin E great for the skin. Not only that but its also coral reef-friendly, biodegradable and cruelty-free.
Please let me know what your favourite travel beauty essentials are so I can give them a try! Happy travelling in style!
